Group Psychotherapy: The Gold Standard

Group psychotherapy is a unique and powerful way to inform us about how we do relationships. We spend the entirety of our lives in relational configurations -with family and caregivers, then with peers and teachers, and eventually on to various level of intimacy and closeness with friends and romantic partners. Of course, there is your relationship with yourself–the relationship that has the largest influence on how all of your other relationships function.

Group therapy becomes a microcosm of how your relationships are function outside of group, except that in group, the goal is to study how intimacy and closeness are formed, nurtured, or avoided.

From these insights, our possibilities begin to expand, and we gain greater capacity to make different choices. We learn new ways of relating to oneself and others and find that our relationships become more rewarding and sustainable.
